Students from William Davies Middle School recently visited the Nest, where they learned all about what goes on during Oak's busy spring season, played a number of sports-oriented games, and participated in a Q&A with student athletes. Thanks to all involved in the coordination of this fun event!

Senior Commercial Carpentry students got a tour of Local 255's Training Center! What an incredible opportunity for them! 🛠

Oakcrest Falcons are known for embracing any opportunity to show off their spirit...even if it means dressing a little ridiculously. This group of staff and students went all out for Blast from the Past Monday!

Oakcrest's Boys' Lacrosse team, who has a record of 3-1 and is undefeated in its conference, recently traveled to Princeton University's Sherrerd Field to watch the Tigers play against Lehigh University. This lucky group of Falcons experienced top-level men's LAX and even met some of Princeton's players...all while bonding with teammates. Oakcrest takes on Absegami TOMORROW (Tuesday, April 8) in Galloway! 💙🥍💪

Today's Falcon Sibling Spotlight is on the Haye siblings!
🦖 Justin (Co'21), a 4-year member of Oak's Academic Team and award-winning Marching Ambassadors, will graduate from Rowan's Honors College this spring with a degree in geology and a minor in biology. He will attend grad school to study paleontology.
🦁 Katelin (Co'22), played field hockey and lacrosse all four of her years at the Nest, where she was also a valuable member of Student Council and the National Honor Society. Katie is currently a junior in Widener University's honors program; she is working toward a degree in nursing and plays field hockey for the Pride.
🏑 Lauren (Co'25), who also plays field hockey and lacrosse for the Lady Falcons, is a member of several OHS student government organizations, including Freshman Transition Program, Student Council, and the National Honor Society. She will attend ACCC in the fall and continue playing her favorite sport in a local adult field hockey league.
All three of the Hayes are shining examples of Falcon Pride!

In mid-March, the Oakcrest Concert Band performed at the South Jersey Band
and Orchestra Directors Association (SJBODA) Concert Band Festival at Rowan University. The student musicians gave a phenomenal performance, earning 3rd place overall and receiving their 1st ever gold rating. Additionally, after their performance, OHS was invited to the State Gala for only the 2nd time in the event's history! Congrats to all the talented Falcons involved in this awesome achievement!

Last Friday, Oakcrest held its spring pep rally, during which students and staff showcased the Nest's trademark school spirit! 💙⚾🥍

In late March, Oakcrest's chapter of the National Honor Society hosted its first ever "Best of the Nest" trivia night. The event was staffed entirely by NHS members who sold concessions, read questions, and graded answer sheets. Eight teams participated in the fundraiser, and the trophy was taken home by a group featuring teachers Matt Allen, Ed Clark, and Kim Cramer and students Bryanna-Faith Bennett, Anastasia Lisojo, Andrew Poblete, and Matthew Poblete.

To kick off distracted driving awareness month, Mr. Costello, Mr. Thomas and the safe roads student coalition at Oakcrest partnered with Hamilton Township officials to assess possible road safety improvements in Mays Landing and shared a road safety activity with 5th grade students at St. Vincent DePaul regional school. The program encourages everyone to "stay in your lane" to be a safe driver and pedestrian

Students from Mr Thomas' Media & Magnet Classes recently held their annual Spring Sports Media Day for senior athletes at Oakcrest. Be on the lookout for the spring video set to debut in early May on instagram/youtube @ohsdigitalvideo

In late March, three honorees from the Atlantic County Women's Hall of Fame visited the Nest for its annual Women's History Breakfast. Nearly forty Falcons were invited to hear community members Ann Arena, Fran Wise, and Jean McAllister reflect on volunteerism, service, and leadership. A big thanks to the guest speakers...and to OHS history teachers Vince Sera and Jake Matlock for organizing this event, which is in its 25th year! 👏👏👏

Check this out! Great chance to get some work experience right here in your own backyard!

Looking for something to do this summer...

Props to OHS 11th grader Micaela Plunkett, who enlisted in the Army Reserve earlier this year. Micaela is slated to attend basic training this summer, and, thanks to the exceptional score she earned on the ASVAB, she will have her pick of highly skilled jobs once she leaves the Nest in 2026. Congrats, Micaela! 👏👏👏

What an amazing day at Adventure Aquarium in Camden! Mr. Guyon's Oceanography students got a behind-the-scenes tour to see firsthand what it takes to run a massive aquarium. From caring for marine life to managing water systems, it was incredible to learn about the science behind it all!
After an exciting morning with sharks, sea turtles, and stingrays, we headed to Reading Terminal Market for lunch, where students got to explore and enjoy a variety of delicious food options. 🍕🍜

Spring sports are in full swing, but we here at the Nest would like to shout out some of the winter athletes who did big things last season. All of the following OHS students were named to the Cape Atlantic League All-Stars 1st Team...
🏀 Levar Price
🏊♂️ Yahsir McNeal
🏊♂️ Hunter Oldfield
🏊♀️ Abagale Ranger
🏊♀️ Marisa Yaccarino
🏊♂️ Luca Yaccarino
Congrats to all! You've made Falcon Nation proud!

Today's Falcon Sibling Spotlight is on the Espinas! Kyle (Co'22), who played tennis all 4 of his years at the Nest and graduated from Oak's Biomed program, chose to continue his education at Rutgers University. Jared (Co'25), who is a National Honor Society member and 4-year soccer and basketball player, does not yet know where he'll attend college but intends to study nursing. Props to the Espinas for taking advantage of all that OHS has to offer!

February is American Heart Month, and Oakcrest's Math Club recently sponsored a Denim Day to raise money for the American Heart Association. Staff members sported jeans and red...AND Hawaiian shirts to honor Assistant Principal AJ Barchetto, who was known for his love of colorful clothing and dedication to the Nest.

Shout out to the Oakcrest Falcons named Students and Staff Member of the Month for February! Pictured from left to right are students Kyla Bradley, Gabriella Fox, Dominic Marsh, Riley Echols, Gabriel Gallegos, Rebecca Sees, Luis Salvatierra, William Gilbert and speech therapist Danielle Berlin. Congrats to all. You've made Falcon Nation proud!
