Today's Community Spotlight is on Mrs. Amanda Scamoffa-Dyas! Amanda is a proud and involved mom to Oakcrest sophomore Luke Dyas AND the owner of the Bake Works in Northfield, where she whips up delicious cakes, cookies, pies and other goodies! Despite the demands of running a small business, Amanda finds time to serve as an integral member of our Boys' Soccer and Boys' LAX booster clubs. She has also been SO supportive of the OHS Class of 2027, helping to plan and execute fundraisers for their upcoming senior trip to Florida. A big thanks and shout out to Mrs. Scamoffa-Dyas for all she does for the Nest! 👏👏👏

The Oakcrest Knitting Club was hard at work in mid-December at its Annual Knitathon, where, over the span of four hours, members created scarves for folks in crisis. The garments were recently donated to the Atlantic City location of Covenant House, which helps area youth facing homelessness. Props to all the young ladies who donated their time on a Saturday morning to make the world a warmer place! 🧶💙🧣

Students in Ms. Megill's Adventures in Literature classes were recently transported to Hogwarts for her annual Sorting Hat ceremony! These Oakcrest Juniors and Seniors, who are currently reading the 3rd installment of the Harry Potter series, learned which House - Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin - best represents their personality. A magical time was had by all! ✨🧙♂️✨

It was National Signing Day at Oakcrest. Wanted to recognize a few of our athletes that are playing at the next level.

Do you recognize this Oakcrest Class of 1988 graduate? It's OHS paraprofessional Melissa Daughtry! Melissa, the 2021 Educational Support Staff of the Year, loved her time at the Nest so much that she's made her career here for the last 24 years. Being a Falcon is also a family affair: Alivia (Co'27) and Alexa (Co'28) currently attend Oak, and Melissa's daughter Autumn, who will finish her Communications degree from Rowan in May, graduated in 2020.

Congrats to the Oakcrest boys basketball team who defeated Cape May County Tech on senior night! Senior basketball players and cheerleaders were also honored before and during the game.
